Several problems in farming are the use of chemical fertilizers, management of agriculture and domestic wastes properly; even some people disposing of garbage in the river and also, the institutional Farmer Group Association (Gapoktan) and Female Farmer Group (KWT) are not functioning optimally. The use of an integrated farming system can increase land and livestock productivities and reduce the volume of agriculture and domestic wastes all at once. This community empowerment activity aimed to increase the people's knowledge and skill of Cibitung Tengah Village in terms of processing agricultural and domestic wastes. Thus it will overcome the garbage and overuse of chemical fertilizer problems. The discussions and outreach activities were done by a door-to-door approach, especially for people who have not been actively involved in Gapoktan and KWT. This research was carried out with several educational activities such as counseling on community waste management systems, training on organic waste processing, Black Soldier Fly (BSF) training, processing organic waste with BSF technology, making silage as goat feed, and making branding of agricultural products. This empowerment program produced new products or processed products. This service activity was aimed at encouraging collective action by the village community of Kebun IX to apply citronella cultivation and processing technology in order to rehabilitate their land as well as develop productive economic businesses as a substitute for their old businesses that were not environmentally friendly. The method used was the combination of <em>Participatory Rural Appraisal </em>(PRA) and collective action model in promotion strategy and technology adoption. Through counseling, training and demonstration plots, four types of integrated businesses, including cultivation, processing and utilization of citronella by-product, have been successfully developed in Kebon IX Village. Citronella plants at aged 6‒8 months produced leaves at a price of IDR 500/kg and after 3 months can be harvested again. One clump of citronella plants can produce 1.5 kg at the first harvest and increase to 2.0 kg after the next harvest. One hectare of land can contain 1000‒1500 clumps of citronella plants. Citronella plant soil costs IDR 250,000/L, the residue of the distillation can be used as animal feed (IDR 150/kg) or used as trichocompost (IDR 1,200/kg). Trichocompost is also needed as organic fertilizer for the continuity of citronella cultivation. The integration of citronella plants cultivation and processing industry has a positive impact on land reclamation efforts as well as to empower the community's economy.</p> Mursalin Mursalin, Eva Achmad, Ardi Novra Copyright (c) 2020 Agrokreatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Fri, 27 Nov 2020 12:33:49 +0700 Pemanfaatan Teknologi Probio_Fm dalam Penerapan Sistem Integrasi Sapi Kelapa Sawit di Bangka Tengah <p>The integrated cattle and oil palm system is part of an excellent program of the Bangka Tengah Regency to increase the production of plantation and livestock. The benefit of the system is ensuring the availability of the animal feed derived from oil palm plantation waste while the feces of cattle is potential in producing the fertilizer for oil palm. The community service aims to alter the paradigm of the society on the integrated cattle and oil palm system as well as to empower the people to implement the system. Four steps were used as the methods to implement the programs are preparation; socialization; simulation; and monitoring and evaluation. Qualitative descriptive was employed to analyze the data. The program found that 90% of stock farmers agreed that the system was easily doable. The stock farmers were able to use the probio_Fm technology in implementing the system by making the silage made from the oil palm plantation waste. The knowledge of beneficiaries had increased and their behavior in feeding activities had positively altered through the program. It was found that the livestock required a week to adapt to the silage as the fermented materials in the probio-Fm technology. The use of a chopping machine was able to be a choice as it was able to produce the smoother chopped midrib. Implementation is carried out using the Integrated Crop Management (PTT) system method, which is an innovative and dynamic approach in an effort to increase production and farmer income through participatory assembly of technology components with farmers. The results of the assistance showed an increase in the production of dry-shelled hybrid maize 4,250 kg/hectare with an RC ratio of 2, with a profit of IDR 6,905,000/hectare. The low marketability and storability of tawes requires innovation in fish processing of tawes into tawes crispy chips (taspy) to increase the marketability of tawes which then be a business oppurtunity for fishermen households to increase their income. However, inovation itself is not enough to increase fishermen household income, it requires effort to build business motivation in fishermen households to take business opportunity. This community service program aimed to know the success of training and group mentoring as an effort to foster business motivation of fishermen households. The program was carried out using intensive training and group mentoring methods for 33 fishermen households in Watupecah Hamlet covering the development of business motivation, time and behavior management, processing and marketing of taspy products. The results of the program showed that there was a changed in fishermen's knowledge and motivation on the aspect of innovation, dreams, and financial management. The success of this program is evidenced by the growth of the business motivation of fishermen households based on data analysis before and after the implementation of the program. It can be concluded that training and group mentoring are effective techniques in fostering business motivation of fishermen households. The main purpose of this project was to empower the coastal community groups in Rambu-rambu Village through the introduction of in-cage verticulture farming of seaweed. The project was carried out within the scheme of Community Service Program (PKM/Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat) funded by the University of Halu Oleo. The project lasted for 30 days from 29 June to 28 July 2019. The activity consisted of three stages, are initial dissemination activity, preparation of the training, and implementation of training of seaweed culture. The project involved 20 students of the University of Halu Oleo and 42 people from fishermen, fisherme wifes, and farmer groups. Before the training was conducted 66.7% of the participants did not have the knowledge and after the training 71.4% of the respondents gained an understanding regarding the seaweed verticulture farming method. The improvement of skill was also evident where before the training, 81% of the participants were not able to do seaweed farming method and after the training, 61.9% of the participants were capable or skilled of repeating the seaweed verticulture method. The increased knowledge of the participants could be described from their ability to clearly explain types of seaweed species used, the benefits of seaweed, and the characteristics of high quality of seaweed seed. The improved skill of the participants were also observed from their skill in constructing the seaweed raft and seaweed net cage, tying up the seaweed seed, and conducting the observation of water quality condition in the location of seaweed farming. In addition, this activity is expected to increase knowledge and skills in productive economic business activities. In addition, this activity is expected to increase knowledge and skills in productive economic business activities. The method of implementing PKM is the method of demonstration plot, where the target community groups play an active role at all stages of activities. Implementation of activities offered to support the realization of PKM activities with steps that have been mutually agreed upon include strengthening and socializing PKM activities, training, strengthening institutional management, demonstration plots of integrated system cultivation and coaching and mentoring. The results of PKM activities provide a positive value for the target community, with integrated aquaculture production of floating net cages (KJA) in the sea no longer relying on one commodity, but one KJA unit can produce two commodities namely lobster (<em>Panulirus homarus</em>) and pearl shells (<em>Pinctada maxi</em>ma). Thus the potential to provide additional income for the community from these two commodities. Large-scale catfish farming companies have managed to communicate their products well, as evidenced by their effective online communication. However, that is not the case with small and medium-sized catfish farmers. Only some members of Asosiasi Pengusaha Patin/Catfish Indonesia (APCI) have successfully established online communication methods through websites and social media campaigns. This necessitates the rest of the members to be assisted in holding themselves up against tight competition especially in the global market through online communication training. This training program aims to raise awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) dabbling in catfish farming and production to display their products online. The methods used in this activity involve formulating initial research, designing the training materials and consultations, preparing the training program, and evaluating the program. The increase of public demand for catfish provides an opportunity for everyone to carry out this business, including the orphanage students. Because of this, the orphan empowerment aimed to educate and practice the basics of conventional catfish farming used probio-Fm technology. The program was conducted in November-December 2018. The empowerment program location was at Nurul Ikhsan Orphanage, Batu Rusa village, Merawang District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The participants were 40 orphans. Four steps of the program consisted of&nbsp; 1) preparation (coordination, survey, and materials preparation), 2) discussion of the training materials (management of conventional catfish farming) 3) Field practice (demonstration of plastic fish tank design and application of probio-Fm) 4) Monitoring and evaluation (the distribution of the questionnaire). Based on the questionnaire, the average of participants (50 %) agreed if they categorized as motivated participants in the program, the Transfering theory and practice methods were easy to understand and follow their needs. Besides, they&nbsp; agreed on the continuity of the program. We concluded that the program succeeded in educating the orphan student about cultivating the catfish with the conventional method based on probio-Fm, however, catfish maintenance should be accompanied by the intensive assistance until harvest. SME’s has not implemented a standard process so that the final product has various qualities. This activity aims to provide training on brown sugar quality assurance, Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP), sanitation, as well as good practice of brown sugar making and the use of measuring tools to standardize the process. The training was carried out for five days in Sariwangi District, Tasikmalaya Regency with the target of 20 sugar entrepreneurs from 4 districts, namely Sariwangi, Culamega, Puspahiang, and Curug Gambir. The results showed that all participants did not yet have production facilities that met the GMP requirements, did not understand the meaning of quality assurance and the use of measuring instruments that supported the improvement of the quality of brown sugar. The post-test results showed an increase in the awareness of SMEs about quality assurance of brown sugar, as indicated by the rise in the test score from 31.39 to 49.72. Process improvements include improving the sap filtering, crystallization, and adding egg white to bind the impurities. Puri Farm Living is a kefir-producing business unit located in Tuban District which often faced the problem of declining of kefir liquid quality during the shipping process. Kefir liquid suffered damage caused by bacterial growth activities which can continuously press the container. Thus, the container is not able to accommodate it. In addition, kefir products have a fairly short expiration period if they are exposed in ambient temperature for more than 6 hours. Freeze drying is a method of drying food products at low temperatures to maintain the function of bacteria in kefir. The community service program aims to provide the partner member skills in operating the freeze drying device. The stages of the program includes: 1) problem survey and needs analysis, 2) design of freeze drying equipment, 3) testing and installation, 4) training, 5) monitoring and evaluation. The results indicate that partners are able to use the freeze drying device, both in the process of preparing raw materials, production, and packaging. In addition, the partner has succeeded to produce 150 capsules containing dried kefir that have not been damaged after more than 6 hours. Moreover, there are business units from other regions that highly want to apply this method in kefir processing. Environment and Forestry Training Center Kadipaten conducted training to support social forestry programs with on-site model and was held August‒October 2018 in West Java and Central Java. The post-training evaluation was conducted one year after the training finished from June‒August 2019. The post-training evaluation aims to assess the suitability of the training materials with the needs of the farming business and the benefits of the training on the farming business developed by KTH. Data collection is done through questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis used descriptive analysis. The evaluation results on several training, i.e measurement and participatory mapping of social forestry areas, agroforestry engineering, oyster mushroom cultivation, making, packaging and marketing of bokashi, and nature tour guide showed that aspects of the relevance of the training to the needs of farming businesses are in the medium to high categories. The benefits of training to the farming businesses are in the medium and high category. To improve the quality of the training process and results, it is necessary to conduct a more careful analysis of training needs so that the training program is in line with the needs of the target community.</p> Amin Fauzi Copyright (c) 2020 Agrokreatif: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Fri, 27 Nov 2020 13:30:35 +0700 Pelatihan Pendampingan Pembuatan Peta Tematik Menggunakan GPS dan Aplikasi CAD <p>One of the problems in the development of human resource professionalism so far is related to land issues (boundaries). The purpose of this activity is to provide training on the use of GPS and processing data using Autodesk map software. The training was attended by the village and sub-district staff of Samarinda City, as many as 50 people. The method used is 1) giving theoretical and practical knowledge about data collection and processing 2) assignment of making land boundaries per area, 3) presentation of results in the field and 4) output (boundary map). The results of this activity were: First, all participants of this training activity were very enthusiastic, enthusiastic, and had high motivation to take part in the implementation of the second boundary land making training activity, the participants who succeeded in making a land boundary map of 25 people or 50% of 50 participants. Third, the quality of the maps is quite good. They found differences in boundary map shape between version Samarinda City Bappeda and field data collection. Based on field data from the Bugis Kelurahan staff, the shape of the land boundary map in the Bugis sub-district in Samarinda almost resembles the land boundary map of Samarinda City of 2.5 ha, because Samarinda City Bappeda does not include the Segiri GOR Stadium as an area of Bugis sub-district that should be included as a map of the border.
